Who do you say I am?

Over the last couple of months, I've been teaching a series for our college+career group called "Who do you say I am?" I challenged the group to answer this question which Jesus asked his disciples two thousand years ago. "Who do you say I am?" It's the most important question that everyone ultimately must answer - whether we realize it or not.

During the series, we spent some time discussing Jesus' divinity and his humanity (and the importance of both). We discussed the fact that Jesus is Savior, but He is also Lord.

We looked at what other religions say about Jesus and what our culture says about Him.

Tonight, I wrapped up the series by emphasizing the Lordship of Christ in our lives. We are either slaves to sin or slaves to righteousness. Either way, we're slaves! We can't go walking around believing that we are our own masters - it's just not reality.

We looked at Romans 6-7 and noted all the outcomes of living a life of slavery to sin vs. living a life of slavery to God. The basic difference is clearly DEATH/LIFE. Bowing to Jesus as our Master is LIFE - not a free-for-all, always fun, hunky-dory kind of life; but a life of servitude to the Lord of the universe!!! And a relationship with the Father.

The answer to the question "Who is Jesus?" will determine the outcome of our lives, both in time and in eternity. Yet it seems most of us don't really have a grasp on who Jesus was when He walked the earth and who He is now. Most of us just take Him at face value. He died and saved me. He was a great guy who lived a great life (and now I'm gonna sing songs about Him).

But do you know who He is? Do you really know Him?
